Determined to prove his worth, Mimir approached Odin and provided him with Mímisbrunnr, a supposed mystical well of knowledge, which was actually a well of water laced with enough mystic mushrooms powerful enough to make a god see visions. One of the examples was when he openly professed that he deserved Freya's anger and showed visible remorse for what his convincing Freya to marry Odin caused her. Almost immediately after the trio left, Kratos and Atreus revealed themselves to him. As for why mistletoe harmed Baldur, Mimir explained that while Vanir magic is powerful, its rules remain slippery and elusive which make senses for anyone who is a witch. Quickly, Mimir proved to be a loyal ally and friend to Kratos and his son, helping them find the realm of the giants all the way. They soon encountered Baldur, who was experiencing a vision of himself and Freya, who is shown to Mimir's companions as none other than his mother, who placed a spell on Baldur that left him unable to feel anything.
